Giving Thanks: Nourishing Our Bodies + Souls

In the spirit of community and gratitude, our team is highlighting essential programs for these challenging times.

With economic hardships persisting, we're addressing immediate needs by giving out food. The global brutality in places like Gaza, Sudan, and the Congo weighs heavily on our hearts, prompting Joél Leon's town hall. As we approach Thanksgiving, conflicted feelings arise—celebrating on the ancestral land of Lenapehoking, shadowed by the ongoing impact of historical genocide. Acknowledging the weight of this season, we invite you to engage in an ancestral healing workshop at the Brooklyn Museum. As a creative ecosystem and consultancy, The Culture LP values community, self-expression, and liberation.

A SACRED CIRCLE - DECEMBER 16th

Experience 'A Sacred Circle: Ancestral Altars and Embodied Movement,' an immersive workshop inspired by María Magdalena Campos-Pons's 'Behold' exhibit.

Guests will enjoy a curated tour of four decades of visionary artistry, blending photography, immersive installations, painting, and performance. Following the tour, Lake E. will guide guests through an immersive practice of ancestral remembrance, through ritual, movement, and meditation that embraces diasporic practices of altar-making, self-reiki, and dance.

This workshop is produced in collaboration with our partners, at the Brooklyn Museum and is a closed practice welcoming members of the global majority (BIPOC). Participants are encouraged to bring items that honor loved ones who have transitioned, this can be a photo, a small item of clothing, a watch, jewelry, etc.

Please note the photograph should only be of the loved one who has passed on, no photos of those still living will be placed on the alter. Attendees are encouraged to come in comfortable/loose-fitting attire, wearing white is suggested, but wearing black is discouraged. I

n alignment with the artist and museum’s goals of supporting climate justice and youth arts, we will be collecting instant cameras, used cameras, polaroids, and film donations for Regla SOUL’s youth photography program.

Learn more about the exhibit here, tickets go on sale soon.
