Celebrate the last day of "Our Friend Jean" a special exhibition featuring a sampling of early works by the legendary
Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The Bishop Gallery proudly presents “Our Friend, Jean,” an exhibit featuring a sampling of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s early works from a group of collectors that knew him intimately, as friends, lovers, and confidants..A total of 20 works will be displayed, including drawings, writings, collages, apparel, and a sculpture.
The group of collectors consists of Jane Diaz, Hilary Jaeger, Katie Taylor Legnini, Luc Sante, Robert Becker, Al Diaz and photographer Alexis Adler who also served as co-curator. Through these works, each collector will be sharing uniquely intimate stories of their friend Jean.
On Saturday, February 29th The Culture LP invites you to attend a closing celebration and tour of the exhibit. Ticket purchase includes admission, complimentary cocktails, light bites, a tour, and meet and greet with select Bishop Gallery artists. The sounds will be curated by DRMRs.FM.

The Bishop is a contemporary art gallery located in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn NY. Launched in 2012, The Bishop is an offspring of the Lamont Bishop Gallery in Washington DC. The owners, Erwin John and Stevenson Dunn were born and raised in Bed- Stuy. They decided a gallery at home base was imperative for the ever changing borough.
