Community Check-In: Mental Health Awareness Month
Reminder: You are enough, you aren’t crazy, and you are not in this alone.
Last month we hosted our first community check-in online since the stay at home orders went into play. The Culture LP has always been on a mission to unite and empower creators through cultural experiences. We decided that instead of starting with a webinar or happy-hour, that we would simply put an invite to the community to join an open call as a way of coping with the “New Paradigm”. What took place was simple, fulfilling, unifying, and definitely empowering.
There were a plethora of resources shared on the meet up, including the following:
Natural remedies that artist Turi S. used to help heal a family member that had fallen ill to Corona Virus
Kemetic Yoga videos with a Black-woman instructor, set in the Valley of Kings of Egypt
Liberate: A meditation app for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color
An inspiring essay by Toni Cade Bambara, on the “Issue of Roles”
A playlist of over a dozen one-hour mixes by DRMRs.FM
Daily affirmations on Instagram by Third Eye Thoughts
A fundraiser for Mutual aid fund to support Dominicans of Haitian descent
ZEAL Notes: A monthly gathering of Love, Joy, Grace and Abundance.
Book recommendations including: “The Spirit of Intimacy” and “Of Water and Spirit”
A family owned digital book store called, The Filling Station.
Dinnerly, an affordable meal-prep service as well as Imperfect Foods which is on a mission to reduce food waste.
CareerVillage, a community where students can get free personalized career advice from real-life professionals.
God’s Love We Deliver: A non-profit dedicated to improve the health and well-being of folks living with serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition.
