Celebrating the Everyday Black Woman, An Opening Celebration
Join us for the opening celebration and preview of
"Because She Said So” an immersive cultural exploration of the self.
"Because She Said So" takes a deep dive into the multifaceted and intersectional lives lead by woman of color in today’s society. This evening of music, beverages, conversation, and art, will feature Dr. Nadia Sasso's recent photo series #13AlbumsTo31 as well as a panel conversation with the series’ creators.
Not only is Nadia Sasso a high-powered creative cultural producer and unconventional scholar, she is a long-time friend and supporter of the Culture LP. It is an honor to work with her again, now on the west coast.
#13AlbumsTo31 is an Instagram photo series that Sasso created to not only tell a story of her journey to 31, but what it means to be unapologetic about your identity. The installation depicts the black cultural experience and takes a deep dive into participant’s own cultural experiences. According to Sasso, "Whatever we say as women to define who we are needs to be respected because whatever she says or said matters most."
Viewers and attendees will leave after the night feeling a connection between the creators, the artwork, and ones own cultural experiences.
